Our Beliefs

The purpose of this page is not to establish a creed or present a statement of faith that others must accept. Rather, it summarizes my present understanding of the Holy Scriptures as I continue to seek truth through the Word of Elohim.

I recognize that none of us possesses perfect knowledge. As the apostle Paul wrote, "For now we see in a mirror, dimly..." (1 Corinthians 13:12). Therefore, I encourage every reader to search the Scriptures diligently, test every teaching against the Word of Elohim, and follow wherever His truth leads.

The Holy Scriptures

I believe the Holy Scriptures are the inspired Word of Elohim and the foundation for all faith and practice. They are trustworthy, sufficient, and the final authority by which every doctrine, tradition, and teaching should be tested.

Elohim

I believe there is one true Elohim—the Creator of the heavens and the earth—the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He alone is worthy of our worship, obedience, and love.

Yehoshua the Messiah

I believe that Yehoshua is the promised Messiah of Israel, sent by the Father for the redemption of mankind. Through His life, death, resurrection, and exaltation, forgiveness of sins and the hope of eternal life are offered to all who repent and place their faith in Him.

The Holy Spirit

I believe the Ruach HaQodesh (Holy Spirit) indwells, teaches, convicts, comforts, and equips those who belong to Elohim, leading them into a deeper understanding of His Word and enabling them to live lives pleasing to Him.

The Commandments

I believe the commandments of Elohim reveal His character and wisdom. They are not a burden but a blessing, teaching us how to love Elohim and love our neighbor. Obedience does not earn salvation, but it is the natural response of those who love Him.

The Sabbath

From my study of the Scriptures, I have come to believe that the seventh-day Sabbath established at creation and affirmed in the Ten Commandments remains the day that Elohim set apart as holy. I believe it is a gift given for mankind's benefit and an opportunity to rest, worship, and remember our Almighty Creator.

Seeking Truth

I believe every believer has the responsibility to search the Scriptures personally rather than relying solely upon the traditions of men or the teachings of any individual, denomination, or religious movement. Every teaching—including those found on this website—should be tested against the Word of Elohim.

Humility Before the Scriptures

I do not claim to have every answer. My understanding continues to grow as I study, pray, and seek wisdom from the Holy Scriptures. If I have misunderstood a passage, I welcome respectful discussion grounded in Scripture, for my desire is not to defend my own opinions but to understand the truth more faithfully.

The Purpose of This Website

The Lamp & Scroll exists to encourage careful study of the Holy Scriptures, thoughtful discussion, and a sincere pursuit of truth. My prayer is that every visitor will be inspired to open the Bible, seek the Father with all their heart, and allow His Word to shape every part of their life.
